11/10/2023 0 Comments I want another game like subnautica![]() The game basically drove the sales of many CD-ROM drives into people's homes. And its visuals were unparalleled at the time using the very new CD-ROM drive, when most other games were still pixel-y platformers like Mario and sonic. When it came out there was nothing like it, and appealed to most every computer user even if you weren't a gamer because the controls were intuitive and you can't really die, it let you game at your own pace. You are playing it as a future-person from nearly 30 years in the future. But I just wanted to voice an opinion that it did not scratch the itch that OW infected me with If you liked Talos Principle, that’s great! I did too! I love puzzles! I really don’t want to take any joy away from anyone. The puzzles were fun to solve, but you could beat the entire game without reading or hearing anything or going off the linear path set out for you. Random nooks and crannies in the world don’t contain anything useful. It’s a series of increasingly complex puzzles solved using a relatively small set of motifs. Talos Principle does neither of those things. The things that I loved about OW were (a) its singular focus and rewarding of exploration and (b) the way the story/philosophy you uncover don’t just help build the world, they actually are core to the plot and help you discover more things on your journey. I’ve seen a lot of people suggest Talos Principle as a follow up to OW and I just wanted to put in my unasked for two cents and say I REALLY disagree.
